and another one – lucky last!

OK! Last Heard it Through the Grapevine mix, I swear. Can’t believe I forgot this gem from Funk Ferret. This is more of a cool edit with beefed up beats and bass, but its smooth as shit too.
Check FF’s SoundCloud for more tunes and mixes.

  1. you are completely missing out the xaphoon jones remix of heard it through the grapevine…

gotta say though, i’m lke the themed post as opposed to just “i like this, you listen now” type posts

  2. Of course in reality this is just a destruction of Rob Tex’s superb remix of Marvin Gaye’s “Heard it Through the Grapevine”. Mr Ferret “forgot” to mention that. When I contacted him, he said he didn’t know the original remix was by Rob Tex, otherwise he would have given credit. So he obviously stole the track in the first place, if he’d bought it he would have known who it was by. Then he put a wonky beat over the top & let all his followers think all the amazing new (Rob Tex) production was his own.

When I pulled him up on this, Ferret responded by saying that he was doing this “for the love of music”. Mr Ferret seems unable to grasp the fact that he is effectively hammering nail after nail in the music industry’s coffin by not only sharing the work of others, but sharing stuff he stole in the first place.

    • Fair enough on your comment there DG, and thank you for pointing that out. After listening to Robs work it doesn’t seem like FF did much at all really – just phattened the beat – not cool!
Although… also not cool for Marvin Gaye’s camp would be the fact that Rob has bootlegged him and is actually selling and profiting off of the works of other people. At least FF wasn’t/isn’t trying to sell it (to my knowledge).

It’s a big debate to get in to there – but i agree, i don’t think FF has done enough to Robs bootleg to claim it as totally his – should have said it was his edit of Robs edit….
